Angostura is one of the most famous and long-standing brands in the world of bitters and rum. Founded in 1824 by Dr. Johann Siegert in the town of Angostura, Venezuela (now Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela), the company initially produced its bitters as a medicinal tonic. Dr. Siegert was a Surgeon General in Simón Bolívar's army and created the bitters to treat soldiers' stomach ailments.

Angostura Bitters remain a secret blend of more than 40 different herbs and spices, making it an indispensable ingredient in both bars and kitchens worldwide. Its potent flavor and aromatic qualities make it a tiny addition that can transform a wide range of recipes and cocktails.

Nose:

Angostura Bitters offers a warm, spicy aroma with earthy notes, featuring hints of cinnamon, clove, and other aromatic spices.

Palate:

The taste is intensely bitter and herbal, with a spicy kick that includes notes of clove and cinnamon. It's complemented by a bittersweet undertone derived from cinchona bark, commonly known as angostura bark.

Finish:

The finish of Angostura Bitters is notable for its long-lasting complexity. It leaves a strongly bittersweet aftertaste that is rich in spicy and herbal notes, predominantly marked by cinnamon and clove.
