Johan Venter didn’t start as an inventor but as a scientist, a highly structured and controlled thinker. A researcher who may have started his career with wine, but in the end, it was spirits that captured his imagination. He went on to become one of the most awarded and respected spirit masters in the world and developed some of South Africa’s most prestigious, iconic, and most loved brands. Expertly distilled at the internationally awarded James Sedgwick Distillery, this single cask was so rare and limited that it was destined to be brought to life as a limited release by The Inventer. The single malt spent its first five years in a third-fill ex-bourbon cask, which was then racked to a seasoned oloroso cask for a final four years.
Nose:
Sweet sherry, roasted nuttiness and dark chocolate.
Palate:
Intense fruit and dark chocolate balanced with oak.
Finish:
Smooth, with long sherry, nutty finish.
