Think of it this way: many many thousands of moons, ago – the best wines of the past were made by normal craftsmen going out into the forest and picking wild berries - grapes and vinifying some of the most precious art the world has ever seen or drunk. Are we not overthinking or overcomplicating wine so very often? Inspired by those winemakers of the distant past and looking at the future of the South African wine industry and her renegade young guns receiving great international recognition, we decided to put our art into small bespoke batches of ArtiSons wines, each uniquely sculpted true to nature and true to vine.

Everything returns to the Mothership – for succour & sustenance, but she her- self has struggled in the granitic Bottelary Hills since 1964, without irrigation or trellising. And yet... these wizened bushvines produce the purest, most con- centrated Chenin Blanc under the ArtiSons gallery. The Mothership is our ulti- mate Chenin Blanc expression.

After completion racked with its primary lees to concrete eggs for gross lees maturation of up to 12 months.

Grapes are picked between 22 and 24 Balling and allowed between 6 to 12 hours skin contact. It is drained into 2000l foudre and concrete eggs for a slow wild yeast fermentation.
