Collectors Reserve Lighthouse Merlot

This Merlot pairs excellently with traditional lamb dishes seasoned with rosemary, thyme, and garlic. It also complements mushroom-based dishes, cured meats, and a variety of cheeses, including Camembert, Boerenkaas, Parmesan, and Roquefort. ​

The unique location of Durbanville Hills’ cellar a mere 20 minutes from Cape Town’s city centre, offers not only a spectacular view of Table Mountain and Table Bay but also an extraordinary terroir that stabilises temperatures and eliminates extremes of heat and cold. Although the Durbanville area is renowned for its SAUVIGNON BLANC that excels under the cool conditions where it is grown mostly on the cool south-facing slopes, the range of RED WINES also benefit from the warmer valley outskirts and opposing northern slopes.

The grapes for this wine are sourced from select vineyards in the Durbanville region, known for its cool climate and misty conditions influenced by proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. These conditions contribute to the development of the Merlot's unique character, enhancing its aromatic profile and flavor complexity.

The wine is aged in oak barrels, which imparts complexity and depth, contributing to its full-bodied profile and lingering finish.​

After careful harvesting, the grapes undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Post-fermentation, the wine is matured in oak barrels to enhance its structure and impart subtle spice and vanilla notes.​
