For 35 years Mulderbosch Vineyards has been recognized for crafting innovative and extraordinary wines that reflect the passion and creativity of the people behind the brand. Being a certified Estate wine, no grapes from any source other than Mulderbosch Estate were used in its production. For the 2021 vintage there were 3 blocks used in its maiden production. Block 9.2 Cabernet franc – This is our premium Single Vineyard Cabernet franc parcel, which time after time, delivers a delicious perfume-rich aromatic Cabernet franc. Block 10.2 Petit Verdot – Sometimes Petit gets used almost as an afterthought by some blenders, but in 2021 it produced such richness and cashmere-like tannins, that we had to use a little more of it. Block 11 Merlot – Not your average Merlot, it’s from Polkadraai, which means more structure, seriousness and oemph, but tempered with finesse and balance.

16 months in 300L French oak barrels (30% new, 30% 2nd fill, 40% 3rd fill and older).

Each parcel was separately fermented in stainless steel red wine fermenters. During fermentation we did a light punchdown while spraying some fermenting wine over the skin cake, this makes for an easier punch and a more homogenous extraction. After fermentation, the parcels were aged individually and blended only after 12 months in their respective barrel splits. Only the best barrel quality was used in the blend and the wine was bottled with a full maturation of 16 months.
