Paserene is a small family operated winery owned by Martin Smith and Ndabe Mareda the sole purpose of which is to produce high-end luxury wines. Great care was given to ensure that the wines produced and artwork on the labels are truly authentic to its “sense of place and people” and will guarantee a lasting legacy. The name Paserene comes from the Latin word Passeriformes the order of traveling and free birds containing swifts and swallows. Paserene is situated in the quaint town of Franschhoek and is home to their award-winning wine range. A professional and contemporary tasting lounge is situated on the property.

While the 2022 harvest yielded less fruit than 2021 due to a cool start and a late heatwave in January, meticulous vineyard management proved its worth. The grapes boasted exceptional quality, translating into outstanding wines.

The wine then embarked on a 22-month journey in French oak barrels, where it developed further complexity. Finally, it spent an additional 6 months in bottle aging before release allowing the flavours to meld seamlessly.

After harvest, the grapes were gently pressed to extract their juice. During fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine received regular pump-overs and punch-downs, enhancing colour and flavour extraction.
