Rascallion Wines is a joint venture between Ross Sleet and Wellington Wines. We are proud to be embedded in the Wellington Valley, one of the Cape's oldest wine regions and considered to be the birthplace of our industry, as it is home to the majority of vine nurseries where young vines are nurtured before being dispatched to the wider Cape Winelands. Wellington Wines’ winemaking philosophy and styles complement our ambition to create wines that reflect the outstanding terroir of the valley and the modern, fresh wines that our consumers love.

Made from Certified Heritage Vineyard wines from two low yielding bush vineyard blocks which were planted in 1979 and 1983 respectively. Careful canopy management preserved the clear fruit flavours during the growing season. The grapes were picked at optimal ripeness, 23 balling.

Only the free-run juice from the fruit that was harvested was drawn off for use in this blend. The two Chenin Blanc components were vinified separately to create the balance of fruit and aromatics sought after in the blend. The first lot was divided into wine fermented in stainless steel tanks and 300ltr barrels. The second lot of Chenin Blanc was fermented in an open tank fermenter with extended skin contact and twice daily punch downs were conducted for one month during fermentation. Once fermentation was complete, the wines were blended before bottling.
