From vines planted in 1986 and certified by the Old Vine Project, the 22 Families Chenin Blanc 2023 by Riebeek Valley Wine Co. is a delightful expression of Swartland's rich viticultural heritage. This wine greets the nose with fragrant aromas of white pear, yellow apple, and a whisper of acacia blossom, layered with nuances of wet stone and subtle honeycomb. The palate is vibrant and textured, offering flavours of ripe citrus, juicy peach, and a touch of toasted hazelnut, beautifully balanced by crisp acidity. The finish is long and nuanced, with a hint of salinity that evokes the character of its old vine origins.

Riebeek Valley Wine Company, established in 1941, produces a selection of own brands. Kasteelberg is the flagship range and consists of an elegant Swartland Chenin Blanc and Syrah. RAAR is Riebeek Valley Wine Co’s experimental range, allowing our Winemakers to push boundaries with techniques like carbonic maceration and skin contact. Wines of amazing quality for everyday enjoyment is showcased through the Riebeek Cellars Collection range. In addition, we offer a range of services including crushing, filtration, wine storage, blending, bottling and distribution.

Once hand-harvested, the grapes were hand-sorted, de-stemmed & crushed into temperature-controlled gravitational drainers. Only the free-run juice was chilled and settled overnight and then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The wine was left on the fine lees for 6 months before being blended with a component of lightly oaked wine that had been matured in 500L 3rd & 4th fill, French oak barrels for 6 months; and then finally filtered and bottled.
