Local Growers Semillon has the ability to age and is perfect slightly chilled with grilled seafood, fresh garden salads or with a roast Barossa chicken. A wine that invites itself to lunch.

Robert O’Callaghan (founder/winemaker) is one of the most important figures in contemporary Australian winemaking. He was early to recognise the future of regional definition the importance of heritage and the conservation of both physical and viticultural resources.

Semillon is one of the original Barossa varieties that growers have maintained for generations. Our Semillon faithfully reflects the contribution made by the Sibley and Kalleske families. Five generations of their commitment to the soil and their accumulated knowledge and skill gives the Barossa its stability and soul. Over the years we’ve learned to pick each of our growers’ blocks of Semillon at varying degrees of ripeness to ensure that we have multiple options when it comes time to put the blend together. We selectively hand pick some blocks up to three times during a two to three week period. This wine represents a style of winemaking rarely found in Australia anymore.

After fermentation, our Local Growers Semillon spends time maturing in a combination of large, seasoned oak casks and hogshead barrels, as well as a separate unwooded component on light yeast lees.
