Sutherland Vineyards is situated just 9 kms off the Atlantic Ocean with altitudes of 140 to 250 meters above sea level. The cool maritime climate allows for slower ripening than in other Cape Wineland areas producing wines with vibrant concentrated fruit flavours and an elegant minerality. All Sutherland wines are bottled and produced at the estate in Stellenbosch.

The grapes for this wine are sourced from Thelema's Sutherland Vineyards, located in the Elgin Valley. This region is known for its cool climate, which is ideal for cultivating Pinot Noir, resulting in wines with elegance and complexity.

After harvesting, the grapes underwent malolactic fermentation in barrels, followed by a maturation period of 9 months in French oak barrels. This process enhances the wine's depth and complexity. ​
