Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards as high as 620 metres above sea level on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain Range nestle against the Helderberg Nature Reserve. A cool and wet ripening season meant little irrigation was necessary yet careful canopy management was required to avoid vigorous vineyard growth. Uneven budding was experienced on certain cultivars, which was carefully managed, but others, like Sauvignon Blanc thrived. Veraison was earlier than in the previous season and was even, due to our cool climate location. Precipitation during the ripening period delayed harvest and management of the accompanying disease pressure was necessary. Despite the challenging season, our well managed vineyards produced high-quality grapes.
