Old Bush Vine Grenache

The season began with good winter and early spring rains that were followed by a dry period up until mid-February when approximately 100mm of rain fell.

After draining and pressing of skins all batches are racked to barrel for maturation.

All batches of the Old Bush Vine Grenache are crushed as separate parcels. The majority of batches are de-stemmed with some stems remaining to contribute another flavour dimension. The wild yeast present on the grape skins is used to initiate fermentation. Particular batches are then selected to remain on skins post-fermentation for up to three months. This extended maturation helps to contribute an even greater complexity and individuality to the wine.
