Godello

Grown in both Spain and Portugal, this white grape variety is characterised by small, tightly packed bunches which ripen early and thrive in dry environments. The grape was faced with extinction in the 1970's but rescued from the brink and there are now more than 1000 hectares of vines in Galicia alone.. Wines made from these grapes tend to have high minerality, respond well to barrel fermentation and are generally considered as being rich and long- lived.
