Rickety Bridge Winery is an historic Franschhoek wine estate. Situated in the renowned Franschhoek valley the food and wine capital of South Africa the Rickety Bridge winery and Country Manor House nestle against the hillside overlooking vineyards and the majestic Wemmershoek Mountains. The land dates back to 1694 when the farms were granted to the first French Huguenots who settled in the area.

The grapes come from a farm in Paarl, called Otterkuil. The 2.65ha bush vine vineyard was planted in 1954 and is certified with the Old Vine Project.

Maturation took place in a ceramic clay Amphora and older French oak barrels for 10 months.

The grapes were destemmed and kept as whole berries. A portion of the stems were left outside in the sun to dry for 5 days and then it was added back into the tank. The dried-out stem’s ads perfumed aromatics and texture to the wine. Punch downs took place twice daily.
