The grapes for this Pinotage come from dryland vineyards in Stellenbosch, grown on decomposed granite soils that retain water well due to their high clay content. The vines, overlooking False Bay, enjoy moderate temperatures and cool evenings, resulting in concentrated acidity and tannins​.

The grapes were hand-harvested and hand-sorted to ensure optimal quality. Partial natural fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks, while the remaining portion was inoculated with selected yeast strains. The wine was aged for 18 months in a combination of first- and second-fill French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels​.
