The grapes are sourced from two vineyards on the slopes of the Tygerberg Hills, just 16 km from the Atlantic Ocean. The vines are 25 years old and are rooted in weathered shale, benefiting from the cool breezes and maritime climate. This results in concentrated flavors and a distinct saline quality​.

The grapes were hand-harvested in the early morning, placed in 8kg lug boxes, and pre-cooled to preserve quality. After a short six-hour skin contact, the free-run juice was settled overnight and then fermented at controlled temperatures (11°-13°C). The wine matured on its lees for four months to enhance texture​.
