Bushvine Pinotage

The wine can be enjoyed with traditional South African dishes such as roasted Karoo lamb or springbok pie or even served slightly chilled with Cape Malay curried fish.

Lievland’s history dates back to 1715, when the original farm was granted to the ex-soldier Jurie Hanekom. Lievland lies on the western slopes of the Simonsberg mountains between Stellenbosch and Paarl, two of the most prominent wine-growing areas in the Cape. The climate, location, and soil on the slopes are conducive to the cultivation of high-quality grapes, and some of the Cape’s best-known wines are made here. Lievland is all about "the here and now", and their wines are made in a generous fruit-forward, well-extracted style.

Pumped directly to barrrel for 13 Months ageing - all French oak, 15% new and the balance 2nd, 3rd and 4th-fill.

The grapes were hand-picked into small lug boxes in the cool early mornings of February after which they were taken to the winery for destemming, crushing and chilling. After two days of cold maceration, fermentation commenced. Mixing wasdone by means of pump-overs three times daily. Due to Pinotage having a naturally thick skin and a correspondingly high phenolic content the wine was separated from the skins immediately after fermentation.
