The story of Nederburg is one of dreams disappointments sorrows and successes that for more than 200 years have made up the lives of the many men and women who have lived loved and laboured there. With the first vineyards planted around 1791 the founders of Nederburg were people of tremendous vision strength and courage - people who developed Nederburg from a bare patch of wilderness into one of South Africa's most eminent wine farms.

The grapes for this wine come from select vineyards in the Coastal Region of South Africa. The blend includes five varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec​.

The wine is aged in French oak barrels for a total of 12 months, with the double-barrel process providing additional depth and texture​.

Each varietal is vinified separately. The wine undergoes aging in French oak barrels for 12 months. The Merlot portion is removed after nine months, blended, and then returned to barrel for an additional three months, giving it the signature "double barrel" complexity​.
