The story of Nederburg is one of dreams disappointments sorrows and successes that for more than 200 years have made up the lives of the many men and women who have lived loved and laboured there. With the first vineyards planted around 1791 the founders of Nederburg were people of tremendous vision strength and courage - people who developed Nederburg from a bare patch of wilderness into one of South Africa's most eminent wine farms.

The grapes for this wine are sourced from top-performing vineyards in the Western Cape regions of Darling, Stellenbosch, and Paarl. These vineyards are primarily composed of bush vines grown under dryland conditions, rooted in granite, sandstone, and shale soils. These soil types contribute to the wine's natural acidity and freshness.

The wine undergoes maturation for 12 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels, which imparts subtle oak influences and enhances its complexity. ​

Upon arrival at the winery, the Pinotage grapes are gently crushed and cool-fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is left on the fine lees to enhance freshness and longevity. A significant portion of the wine is matured in contact with American and French oak for a period of 12 months prior to bottling, adding complexity and depth. ​
